Have a beautiful day...

For just a short time after she has left, the scent of a woman stays with you.
It's on your clothes, your hands even your hair.
If her scent is still with you after years of her presence, surely you have loved.

As you get older you remember more, well.. until you go senile, of course.
I recall when i was a 16 years old "apprentice" soldier in a military school. We were, for a training exercise, on some deserted place in the east of france. We had to make shelters, each soldier carried his own poncho and some elastic cords, so one soldier would put his poncho on the ground and another put his poncho some 60 cms above it, held onto trees with the cords. This "aesthetic' tents offered some rain protection but the wind would just whip through it as there were no walls.
It was cold, from a little corpse of bushes our sergeant came around to inspect our shelter and i recall him saying "What a pity..." while seeing us cover of mud and wet. Me, being a smart a$$, cold and tired replied "Thanks, Sergeant !!" with a big proud smile on my face.

During that night, some fools didn't sleep with their rifles in their sleeping bags to protect them from the humidity as it got very icy and cold there. I found that out when i wake-up and my sleeping bag was craking while being frost. The Corporals went around and stole rifles of sleeping "soldiers" during that night. I can remember the sermon they receive the following day.

That day, we ran, crawled through mud and deep tranches. We weren't allowed to sleep all night... a couple of guys cuddled to keep warm. I wasn't going to cuddle, that's for survival, a matter of life or death... some guys, as i remember, were a bit too much quick to cuddle...
At dawn, we took up positions with our arms, i was at the time the "one", the guy with a AA-52 (a full -heavy- machine gun). then, suddenly, at the bottom of the hill, 5/6 sergeants ran at us shooting (blanks), they weaved and fell to the ground now and again, as we took aim a couple of times and shot the guys. At this moment, it was close to the real thing, as i can imagine... I did hunt rabbits and boars a couple of time but they never shoot back....

Well, i just wrote this post (and souvenir) because today is specific....

First, the last of the First World War french veterans (named "Poilus") passed away and today was a National Tribute for this soldier named Lazare PONTICELLI.

But, the most important is, coincidence, the date that my Grand-Father Albert Rene PETIT passed away, when 56 years old, due to complications from wounds received during WW II (and being a prisonner too). I was just 6 years old when it happen and while being so young, i can still remember a man of dignity, simple, fair... I miss him dearly.

Love you, Pepe...

Have a beautiful day,
Frenchguy.

What is happening here ?
Most of the mains "KFF members" tends to disappear in large number...
I know that KFF isn't anymore the happy and really friendly site as before, maybe people get bored about KFF and, certainly, tired to deal with the increasing numbers of di@&head members... it's just sad.
Hopefully, they just disappear because they are able to meet someone and start a relationship.
Anyway, Mr Korn... i salute you.

Beautiful day,

Cruel dilemna... Mar 12, 2008 8:47 pm

Recently i've had financials setbacks, not that i'm in debt but, well, better to anticipate any situations.
Looking for solutions, one of them came suddenly and it doesn't stop to bother me...
Back France, i'm the proud owner of a "collectible" car, it's a 1966 Peugeot 403 B7 -You know the car, Inspector Columbo (P. Falk) was driving one of them, mine is a hardtop-, the car is in excellent condition. With a 65 horsepower engine, this car is a top-fuel dragster yep, yep, 0 to 60 in... 23 seconds.
Anyway, the fact is that i could sell this car (easily) for 3500,oo Euros -or 5500,oo $- and the price for this vehicule doesn't stop to increase.
I love this car, i spend so much time to fix it... and if i stay in the US, i doubt to be able to bring this car in LA.
Crap... another dilemna, and i don't need this one at this time.
I feel tired suddenly...

Have a beautiful day,
Frenchguy.

What is that makes people, after they have finished loading their grocery, leave their trolley in the middle of the parking lot (despite being in most cases a few steps from a "trolley park").
Frequently, on windy days (as today) you can see these trolleys rolling down the asphalt and ramming the paintwork of someone pride and joy. I find it incredible that people can be so lazy...
Why don't all supermarkets adopt the 1$ rule, like in France (you have to insert a dollar to a system who release your trolley) whereby you have to return it to a suitable trolley park to get your money back ?
And yes, i had the "pleasure" to spot a nice scratch on my car, none that the car is new -it's a 2003 denali- but still....
Then driving back home, I slammed on the brakes to avoid a stupid squirrel... well, it didn't work. I have to clean my car now...

Beautiful day to all,
frenchguy

Wine list (2) -for Jammie- Feb 25, 2008 12:49 pm

Jammie was talking about Gewurztraminer...
Being right in her choice -i like those white alsacian wines too- i have to give my selection

For spicy food -asian or even fish-
DOPFF & IRION -Domaine les sorcieres-
(Gewurztraminer) The year: 2002 to now are fine. All the "cru" from those years are very good.

Gewurztraminer being a little to "dry" or "acid" for some of us, i like to drink a Pinot Blanc or a Riesling.
2000 Domaine DIRLER-CADE
(Saering) wine is medium dry
2001 Domaine FREYBURGER
(Grasberg de bergheim) wine is sweet

Then, if you enjoy Sea Fruits there is a very good (and cheap -12$-) wine to drink with.

DOPFF & IRION Crustaces (the label is pictured with Crabs, homards,...)
Try a 2003 because the wime is smooth
a 2004,2005 being a little more "dry'
This wine as to be "chilled" to be well appreciate.
Just try this wine with a simple shrimps plate...

BTW, don't forget. When drinking wine, open the bottle 15-20 mns before drinking. You have to let the wine "breathe". You could be surprised how a wine taste differ from being drink immediatly or after 10 mns bottle open...

Beautiful day to all
Frenchguy

2003 Sarget de Gruaud-Larose
(Saint-Julien)
-Note:you can't go wrong with any Sarget-
2005 Barons de Rothschild -reserve speciale-
(Lafite)
2001 Chateau Haut-Beausejour
(Saint-Estephe)
2001 Chateau Bel-Air -cru bourgeois-
(Haut-medoc)
2004 Chateau Dassault
(Saint-Emilion)
2002 Chateau Puy-Blanquet
(Saint-Emilion)
2004 Chateau Paradis-Casseuil -Domaine Rothschild-
(Lafite)

All those wines are, oh surprise !, french
If you enjoy, as like me, wine who are delicat and not heavy or so "fruity" to the palate, you will be happy.
And don't forget the 2 rules who, generally, imply a good quality wine :
You have to read on the label
> APPELATION Bordeaux CONTROLEE
.......... Saint-Emilion .........
.......... Haut-Medoc.........
> MIS EN BOUTEILLE AU CHATEAU
................ A LA PROPRIETE

if you read "Mise en bouteille a F-33000 (5 chiffres) or "Negociants a F-33000", the wine is bought by a warehouse. So the wine will be bottled in a different location and usually mixed with other wines...none that the wine will be bad but it's not an "original" wine.

Have a beautiful day,

In my head... Feb 23, 2008 10:35 pm

I've sat on my behind today, not all day, but a lot of it.
I'm thinking, thinking and thinking... In fact, most of my day was consumed by thoughts. I really want to move on, i've had enough of my situation. I hate things as they are now. It's not a question if things will change but, how i will make them change. Or will i just sit here and complain... (as i did last year). I've done quite changes but i don't see them to measure up my expectations.
I should want more out of life but looking around i cannot see all that many choices. I have to catch the "right train" to eventually getting around to something nice in my life. there are a lot things i'm thankful for and many wonderful, valuable people.
it had help if i had a woman in my life but that's non-existent. I suppose at the end of all this, i just have to endure me, whoever i am. The older i get, the more i realise that i need to appreciate -and not feeling content- any progression, even the slightless, as beneficial for me.
Tomorrow is another day...

Have a beautiful day,
Frenchguy.
